Aidan Connolly scored twice as Queen's Park came from behind to beat Inverness 2-1 at The City Stadium on Tuesday. The victory lifts the Spiders off the bottom of the Scottish Championship and ends a damaging run of four consecutive defeats.

Graeme Shinnie had given the visitors an early lead, finding the net in the sixth minute. Queen's Park responded well, with the on-loan Rangers winger Connolly levelling the score twelve minutes later after being set up by Lewis Stewart. The home side's momentum continued, and Connolly struck again four minutes before the interval, running onto a flick from Michael Ruth before finishing from close range.

Manager's reaction

Sean Crighton, the Queen's Park manager, praised his team's resilience. "The lads showed great character to come back and get the win we needed," he said. The result moves the club up to ninth in the standings, now on seven points from ten games.

Goalkeeper David Mitchell made important saves to protect the lead, including one from Roddy Macgregor late in the first half. The team had to cope without captain Euan Murray, who was missing from the matchday squad. The win provides a major boost ahead of their next fixture, a trip to face Greenock Morton this Saturday.
