Queen's Park FC has thrown its support behind new proposals from the Scottish FA designed to nurture Scottish football talent. The club issued a statement welcoming the plans presented at a recent 'Made in Scotland?' meeting in St Andrews.
"We believe the proposals presented earlier this month are a positive and achievable step for Scottish football," Queen's Park FC said. The club pointed to its own youth development history as evidence of the pathway's value, noting that former Scotland captain Andrew Robertson spent his formative years at Lesser Hampden.
That tradition continues with a growing pool of young internationals emerging from the club's system. Andy was named in Sébastien Pocognoli’s first senior Scotland squad, while former B-team defender Henry Fieldson received an under-21 call-up. Aiden McCallion, currently on loan, was called into the under-19s, and former loanees Josh Doig and Josh McPake were also congratulated for recent international recognition.
This season, manager Zeb Lawson has consistently integrated young players into the first team. Tyrese McDonnell, Ross McLean, Lewis Stewart, Ben Brannan and Aiden McCallion, all under 21, have been frequent players. This commitment to youth comes as the team handles a challenging start to the Championship season, sitting 9th in the table with four points from seven games. Their next challenge is an away trip to face 7th-placed Arbroath this Friday.
