Kris Boyd Tells Lawrence Shankland to Persevere Amid Dry Spell

Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd has advised current star Lawrence Shankland to persevere despite a dry spell, citing the player's proven goal-scoring record. Shankland, 31, has been a proven goal scorer throughout his career in Scotland with Queen's Park, Ayr, Dundee United, and most recently Hearts, where he bagged 88 goals in 171 appearances.

Boyd on Difficult Shankland Spell

Boyd told LiveFootballTickets: "From Lawrence's point of view, he's a striker that's scored goals throughout his career. I think for his psyche, you've just got to focus on what you can do. Yes, there's a lot of noise for Rangers with creative players at the top end of the pitch that are not really firing on all cylinders right now.

Curtis Needs Minutes to Develop

Conversely, fellow Scotland international and Rangers winger Findlay Curtis has looked sharp so far. The 20-year-old was loaned out to Kilmarnock for the second half of last season and earned himself a place in Scotland's World Cup squad through his performances. Boyd believes the youngster has a bright future at Rangers - but that he needs to be getting regular 90 minutes for his own development.

League Standing

Rangers are currently 6th in the Scottish Championship, 41 points from the top, with a goal difference of -13. They have scored 35 goals and conceded 48 this season. The title race is still wide open, with 36 points separating Rangers from leaders ST Johnstone.

Next Fixture

Rangers' next fixture is against Partick at Firhill Stadium on December 26, 2026. The match will be a key test for the team's ability to bounce back from their current slump.
