In the inaugural matches of this season’s KDM Evolution Trophy, Rangers B demonstrated their strength as they defeated Gala Fairydean Rovers by a scoreline of 4-0. The game was notable for the involvement of six players from Queen's Park, who were on loan to Rangers and played significant roles in the victory.
The match began with Lewis Stewart opening the scoring after just nine minutes. He capitalized on Zeb Lawson’s lay-off, slotting the ball into the corner of the net. Aiden McCallion quickly added his first goal a minute later, before turning provider for Zebedee who nodded in from McCallion's cross.
McCallion completed his brace with a powerful penalty kick, securing the victory for Rangers B. His performance was particularly impressive as he had narrowly missed out on scoring against Raith Rovers earlier that week.
The fortunes of the other three Queen's Park loan players were less favorable. Josiah Sowa made an appearance at halftime in Dumbarton’s 3-1 loss to Airdrieonians, while Milosz Sliwinski and Darryl Carrick joined ex-Spider Lennon Connolly as part of Annan Athletic’s team that was defeated by Bonnyrigg Rose with a scoreline of 1-0.
Looking ahead, Rangers B will face Celtic B on August 25th at New Douglas Park. Meanwhile, Annan Athletic and Dumbarton are set to play Berwick Rangers and Celtic B respectively in the upcoming fixtures.
