Queen's Park's Andrew Shinnie Signs with Stenhousemuir FC

Queen's Park's experienced midfielder Andrew Shinnie has joined Stenhousemuir FC on a one-year contract. The 37-year-old arrives at Ochilview following his departure from Livingston, bringing considerable experience to the Warriors squad.

Shinnie has made 511 competitive senior appearances and scored 60 goals during a career spanning almost two decades. He began his career with Rangers, making two first-team appearances, before gaining regular senior football across two loan spells with Dundee, where he made 35 appearances and scored once.

What happened?

Shinnie enjoyed an outstanding two seasons with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, scoring 24 goals in 66 appearances across all competitions. He recorded 16 goals in 45 appearances during the 2012/13 campaign, earning a place in the PFA Scotland SPL Team of the Year and a nomination for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award.

Why it matters for Queen's Park

Shinnie's performances were also rewarded with a senior Scotland debut, with Shinnie starting in a 2-1 victory over Luxembourg in November 2012. A move to Birmingham City followed in the summer of 2013, with Shinnie scoring six goals in 73 appearances for the English Championship side before making a further three appearances during a loan spell with Rotherham United.

What comes next?

Shinnie then made 106 appearances, scoring 10 goals across his loan and permanent spells with Luton Town, playing his part in consecutive promotions. The Hatters earned promotion from League Two in 2017/18 before lifting the League One title the following campaign. Shinnie scored in Livingston's record-breaking 5-0 victory over Queen's Park in the Trust Trophy final at the Falkirk Stadium.
