Queen's Park's search for a home win continues after a 1-0 defeat by Dunfermline Athletic at Hampden on Saturday. MacLeod's 18th-minute strike, set up by Tod, was enough to separate the sides and leave the Spiders in 10th place in the Scottish Championship with just seven points from 11 games, a record of two wins, one draw, and eight losses.
A decisive early blow
The only goal arrived early, punishing a sluggish start from the hosts. MacLeod found space in the area to convert Tod's delivery, giving Dunfermline a lead they would not relinquish. Queen's Park's Martin was booked shortly before the goal for a foul, setting a frustrated tone for the afternoon.
The visitors managed the game well, however, with Adams receiving a yellow card for a foul in the 68th minute. Queen's Park's final substitution saw Todorov replace Martin late on, but they could not find an equaliser. McDonnell was booked in stoppage time as the match slipped away.
The result extends a difficult run for Queen's Park, who have now lost four of their last five matches. Their recent form reads LLWLL, with the only victory in that sequence a 2-1 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle earlier in October. This follows a 2-0 loss to Morton on Saturday 17 October and a 2-0 defeat to Raith Rovers on 10 October. They have scored just six league goals all season while conceding 18, leaving them with a goal difference of minus twelve. They now sit 16 points adrift of league leaders Stenhousemuir.
Attention turns immediately to next Saturday's trip to Somerset Park to face Ayr United, who are currently seventh in the standings. That fixture kicks off at 3pm on 31 October.
